What to see in Marbella in a Day

Now that good weather is here, are you planning a day trip to Marbella and you don’t know what to see? You’re in the right place, in this post we’ll tell you the 10 things not to miss in Marbella if you choose to pay a visit to the glamour capital of the Costa del Sol.

Marbella is one of the most important cities in the south of Spain, part of the Malaga province on the seaside of the Mediterranean Sea. It has over 141,163 inhabitants being the second most populated town of the province. Thanks to its 177 square km the city can offer a broad selection of plans and leisure activities, we’ll tell you now what to see in Marbella:

  1. OLD CITY CENTRE:

You’ll find here the narrow streets typical of Andalusian traditional architecture, with a lot of shops, art galleries and small public squares where you can enjoy a nice drink under the sun in a charming atmosphere. You can have a nice time by day and also by night. One of the best options if you don’t know what to see in Marbella in a day.

  1. AVENIDA DEL MAR:

It’s located between the Alameda and the promenade (the Paseo Marítimo). You can find here 10 sculptures made by famous Spanish surrealist painter Salvador Dalí. You can also find here some nice terraces where you can enjoy the warm weather

  1. THE ALCAZABA AND THE OLD TOWN WALLS:

Just by the side of the old city centre there’s another area you can not miss: the ancient Walls of the city Castle. They are a protected historical site and they are quite well preserved, considering they were built in the XIth century. This proposal is a good plan to enjoy together with your visit to the old Marbella city centre.

  1. A WALK BY THE ALAMEDA PARK:

Close to the promenade you can find the ‘lung of the city’: the Alameda park. It’s the perfect place to take a seat and rest under the shadow of its high trees. Nearby, you can find many bars with delicious tapas.

  1. PUERTO BANÚS (BANUS MARINA):

It’s very likely, the first thing you’ve thought about after reading ‘Banús’ is: LUXURY. But not everything there is made for zillionaires. You can also find restaurants and bars with prices for everyone. Don’t you think having a drink on a nice terrace watching super cars, mega yachts and the rich and famous passing by is a good plan? You know you’ll like it.

  1. A SHOPPING DAY

If you feel like enjoying a good shopping day, Marbella has two very interesting alternatives to offer: you can go to the small shops in the old city centre or you can opt for a visit to a modern shopping mall like La Cañada. You’ll find also restaurants and cinemas for a full leisure experience.

  1. ARTOLA-CABOPINO BEACH:

If you enjoy nature, we recommend you one of the best beaches of the Costa del Sol: the Artola beach in the Cabopino area. It’s surrounded by smooth sand dunes and it was awarded the Blue Flag prize by the EU. It’s clearly one of the best places to relax under the sun.

  1. BOUNTY BEACH:

It’s a difficult task to choose the best beach in Marbella. There is a good number of them, with some very different from each other but all of them quite attractive. But, if we need to recommend one to you, while you are looking for what to see around Marbella in a day, Bounty beach, and especially the Bounty beach bar that names the place, is the option to choose. You can also find in the nearby some other chillout themed beach bars and good restaurants.

  1. MARBELLA’S GASTRONOMY:

Marbella offers a broad selection of good places to eat, suitable for all budgets. You can not end your visit without tasting the fresh fish offer of the beach restaurants/bars (‘chiringuitos’) especially do not miss the ‘espeto de sardinas’. But if you feel like having some tapas, then the old city centre and the small bars there, are your best option. For those inclined for the gourmet option there are several restaurants in Marbella with Michelin stars.

  1. MARBELLA BY NIGHT:

Once the sun hides behind the horizon the city starts to get ready for a funny and long night you can enjoy until dawn. The area to find the best places to go is the Avenida del Mar where you can start the night dining and then have some drinks in La Notte. Although the most renowned discos are Olivia Valére, Key Boite, Funky Buda or La Suite.
